What are the differences between fast acting fuses and ordinary fuse products?

The fuse of a regular fuse link is composed of metal wires with a certain geometric shape, while the fuse

of a fast fuse not only has metal wires with a certain shape, but also has solder joints of a certain material

on them, with the purpose of quickly disconnecting the fuse in case of overload.

Functionally speaking, ordinary fuse links have a certain allowable time to pass under appropriate

overload conditions. The larger the actual current exceeds the rated current value, the shorter the fuse

time. Conversely, the smaller the rated fuse current exceeds, the longer the fuse time; And fast fuses

highlight “fast”, which means high sensitivity. When the circuit current is overloaded, the fuse can quickly

heat up and disconnect under the action of the solder joint. Good fast fuses have high efficiency and are

mainly used to protect thyristors and some electronic power components.

The difference in usage is based on the premise of the previous two points, because fast fuses have

higher sensitivity and are generally used to protect semiconductor components, such as in front of

frequency converters. Compared with ordinary fuses, ordinary fuses have lower sensitivity and can only be

used as ordinary fuses. In some situations where high requirements are needed, they cannot meet the

needs and can only rely on fast fuses.
